5 Cleansing Face Masks to Make with Superfoods

Sure, we love to eat our superfoods, but that's certainly not all they're good for! There’s something special about getting all of the benefits of our favorite foods through our skin - it’s like our bodies are absorbing the goodness from the outside in! Plus, who doesn’t love the feeling of mixing up a face mask, applying it, and then relaxing for 20-ish minutes? It’s a great form of self care both physically and mentally, and your pores will thank you, too.

The Green Goddess

This one utilizes the free-radical fighting and cleansing powers of spirulina to eliminate acne and calm irritated skin.

Ingredients:

Directions:

Simply mix the spirulina and water into a thick paste and apply liberally over freshly cleansed skin. This mask can be left on for around 20 minutes, before washing off with warm water! Follow up with a moisturizer. This mask can be used 1-3 times per week.

2. The Miracle Mask 

Bringing all of moringa’s antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals together to fight aging and minimize dark spots!

Ingredients:

Directions:

Mix the moringa and water into a paste and apply liberally over freshly cleansed skin. This mask can be left on for around 20 minutes, before washing with warm water! Follow up with a moisturizer. This mask can be used 1-3 times per week.

3. The Rejuvenator 

Utilizing the healing powers of goji berries, this one's for when your skin could use a little pick me up.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp. of honey
  • 1 avocado
  • ½ cucumber, peeled
  • 1 tbsp. Extra Large Goji Berries (before you prepare the mask, allow the berries to soak for about an hour in ¼ cup of water)

Directions:

Pour all of the ingredients in a blender. When adding the goji berries, pour them in the blender along with the water that they were soaking in. Blend until the mixture is smooth.Using a cotton ball, spread the mask on the face. Leave on your face for about thirty minutes. Keep in mind that this mask will not dry. Finally, rinse the mask off with warm water.

4. The Mocha

Fighting acne and exfoliating dead skin with the genius combination of coffee and cacao powder.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup ground coffee beans
  • 1/2 cup Raw Cocoa Powder
  • 1 cup of whole milk
  • 1 tbsp. of lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp. of honey

Directions:

Mix the ground coffee and cocoa powder in a bowl. Add milk until you create a paste. Then fold in the lemon juice and honey. Apply to clean skin and relax for 20 minutes as it dries. Wash off with warm water then hydrate your face with an oil-free moisturizer if needed.

5. The Brightener

Using the penetrating powers of coconut oil to enhance the moisturizing and antibacterial properties of honey and lemon.

Ingredients:

Directions:

Combine the above ingredients thoroughly in a small mixing bowl. Apply a thick coat of the mixture onto your clean face, then allow the mixture to sink in for 10 minutes. Rinse off with cool water, and pat dry with a soft towel.
