Daily Detoxing with Superfoods

Detoxing is a wonderful way to cleanse our bodies of toxins and restore balance and energy. However, certain detoxes can actually be filled with toxins and chemicals - the exact things they are supposed to expel! Plus, more and more celebrities have begun endorsing detoxes, including the ones that aren’t so good for your body. So how do we know which detox plans are healthy and which aren’t? Much like our diets, keeping our detox strategies as natural as possible helps us choose the safest ones for our minds and bodies. Here are seven ways to detox naturally everyday - without using extreme methods or crazy cleanses.

1. Probiotics

Most of us have experienced digestional issues at one point in our lives, but problems like constipation, bloating, or excessive bathroom runs are becoming increasingly common. What most people don’t realize is that these issues can often be solved with probiotics, supplements that provide our body with extra good bacteria that we need for a healthy digestive tract. However, always be sure that you choose the most natural supplement available in order to avoid any added toxins.

2. Drink more water

It’s fairly common knowledge that as human beings, we don’t drink enough water. At least 8 glasses of water a day is recommended, but more water is never a bad thing if you space out your consumption throughout the day. Water is highly important for cleansing out your body, keeping you hydrated, and can even help you lose weight.

3. Then add lemon

Adding a lemon wedge to your water is beneficial in detoxifying, especially when you start your day this way! Drinking water with lemon as soon as you wake up preps your body for all that you will consume throughout the day. In other words, by detoxifying your body before any activity takes place, you start off with a clean slate.

4. Reduce your intake of medications

While sometimes medications are necessary, we often find ourselves popping ibuprofen as soon as we feel the onset of a headache. However, too much medication increases the amount of toxins in our system and cutting some out can help us drastically in our effort to cleanse our bodies. So, try to replace common over-the-counter medications with natural remedies instead, like honey to help calm a sore throat.

5. Replace coffee with green tea

Though coffee can have health benefits, too much caffeine can be detrimental to your detox. Replacing your morning coffee with green tea will reduce the amount of caffeine in your diet and add provide antioxidants for your body.

6. Eat more fiber

Fiber is the body’s natural cleanser. By adding more fiber to your diet, you will naturally increase the movement of toxins out of your system. However, you don’t have to eat processed cereals or bars to increase your fiber intake. Certain foods like flax seeds and chia seeds are high in fiber, and look great on top of your smoothie bowls.

7. And our personal favorite: eat more superfoods!

You don’t have to fast in order to detox. Simply adding more superfoods to your diet can help you cleanse your body of toxins! Most superfoods, like goji berries, are high in antioxidants, which help prevent diseases by absorbing and expelling free radicals that act as toxins in our bodies. Beet Juice Powder acts a cleansing agent by improving blood PH, flushing fatty deposits from the blood, and improving circulation. While Wheat Grass Juice Powder is rich in living chlorophyll, a substance that helps detox organs. Studies have shown that wheat grass is an effective liver and intestine detoxifier, removing chemical neurotoxins that compromise the blood and the gastrointestinal tract. Try either of these powder in this tasty daily recipe!

Detoxing doesn't have to mean expensive shakes or fasting - it can be simple, easy process every day! We don’t always have to make a complete lifestyle change just to be healthier. Sometimes all it takes is paying a little extra attention to what goes in our bodies.
