Spotlight on the Effectiveness of a Few Famous Superfoods

This week we welcome Sarah Jones from Simmer and Zest to the blog! She's putting the spotlight on three favorite superfoods, and why they're so effective.

It's now known that superfoods have amazing health benefits as well as antioxidants. Many have topped the list as items you should consider using in your diet for their nutrients, vitamins, and antioxidants!

With a large variety of options, from  super greens to protein powders to sprout powders, there's something for everyone.

Superfoods each contain particular nutrients that help with specific body functions.  Blueberries are high in antioxidants that help boost your immune system and constantly make superfood lists.

Chia seeds are also popular within the superfood group. They have no taste and can be used as a topping or an ingredient in smoothies. They can boost your energy and have been said to help with Type 2 diabetes.

Recently,  spirulina has made the superfood category because it has a high number of antioxidants, phytonutrients, and beta-carotene.

However, eating any of these superfoods can be counterbalanced by an unhealthy diet. Eating loads of sugar or greasy, fried items can wreak havoc on your health. A well-balanced diet with unprocessed foods is encouraged for maximum health benefits.

Nutrient dense foods are good for you to eat, but as with everything, it is recommended that you consume these in addition to a healthy diet and regular exercise. Adding more vegetables and green items to your plate will help you maintain a healthy weight and deliver a good dose of vitamins and minerals into your body.

These foods can help you maintain a good weight and a good diet. Balancing your food groups and avoiding things such as sugar can help blood pressure, cholesterol, and weight loss.
