3 Energizing Smoothie Recipes for Summer | Blog
Soon, spring will turn into summer, which means longer days and more parties, BBQs, and beach outings to enjoy! And although most people experience higher energy levels in the summer than in the colder seasons (thanks to our good friend Vitamin D), the endless activities in addition to the long workweek can be exhausting. To keep you energized enough to enjoy all of the summer activities coming up, we’ve collected three of our favorite energizing smoothies for summer!
1. Antioxidant Rich Smoothie
Energy booster: flax seed powder
Flax seed powder is comprised of 20% Omega-3 fatty acids, 20 times more than that found in fish oil, and more than any other plant food known. Research has shown that people who consume more Omega-3’s are more likely to have stable energy levels and a strong immune system. A daily dose of flax seed powder can help you feel more energized on a consistent basis.
Blend together and enjoy:
- 1 cup pomegranate juice
- ½ avocado, pitted, peeled
- 4 dates, pitted
- 2 tablespoons Flax Seed Powder
- 4 cups baby spinach
- 4 cups romaine lettuce
- 1 cup frozen blueberries
- 1 cup frozen strawberries
2. Chocolate Almond Berry Butter Smoothie
Energy booster: mung bean sprout powder
Even though it doesn’t appear in the name, mung bean sprout powder is the true star of this smoothie. Not only a great source of protein, but also a high-energy superfood, mung bean sprout powder is often added to energy bars, and it makes a great addition to your pre-workout smoothie.
Blend together and enjoy:
- 1 cup almond milk
- 1/4 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
- 1/4 cup fresh or frozen raspberries
- 1/4 cup almonds
- 1 tablespoon Coconut Butter
- 1 tablespoon Cacao Powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 Tablespoon Mung Bean Sprout Powder
3. Superfood Energizer Smoothie
Energy booster: goji berries, maca, and wheatgrass powder
Maca is an adaptogen that helps the body resist the effects of disease and physical and emotional stress. This helps restore our energy to its optimal levels. Plus, goji berries and wheatgrass powder have been said to improve energy and stamina, and are often added to energy bars.
Blend together and enjoy:
- 1 cup coconut water
- 1/2 avocado
- 1 cup tropical fruit (pineapple, mango, papaya or a combo)
- 1 cup spinach (or leafy green of choice)
- 2 tablespoons Goji Berries
- 1 teaspoon Coconut Oil
- 1 teaspoon Maca Powder
- 1 teaspoon Wheatgrass Powder
- Optional: top with 1 tablespoon Coconut Flakes
